Results from Ireland

Here's the results from some of the lovely people I worked with on my mini trip to Ireland at the beginning of April...

By Sean McCormack in Galway...
By dbimages at Mount Usher
By photographer & painter Alex Morton...

and Ciaran Whyte in Dublin...

Congrats to both Lorraine and Ciaran for both getting their panels accepted to the Irish Photographic Federation - gorgeous work by you both and so well deserved!
Thanks to everyone who worked with me whilst I was over and hope to be back at some point in the future. If anyone else is interested in booking me on my next trip to Ireland don't hesitate to get in touch now so I can keep you informed.

Bluebells

Hello all, I've been mega busy lately, with long working days back to back and lots of mini trips, I just got back from two days in Cambridge, and have also been working in Bournemouth, London, Birmingham and Wales this past week and therefore not had much time for my blog, and not much else either. But now I have a bit of time off so will can post some funky new pictures over the next few days. I'm off for another working trip in Scotland end of next week, and will be travelling there for 2 weeks, so it will be nice to have some days off to chill out and catch up on things before I set off on another grand adventure!

I had a brilliant shoot with Patrick Allen (click here for his MM profile) in Bedfordshire last Friday in a beautiful Bluebell wood, the whole place was just covered in them and the scent was lushious. We got there early morning and the sun was shining through the trees, illuminating the bluey-purple carpet of flowers in delicate dappled light. We got so many great images but these are my favourites. I think they're brilliant! Such gorgeous colours and super use of his lensbaby; the flowers look like they're dancing ~ reminds me of Alice in Wonderland :)

Room of Light

These pictures were taken by Vincent Abbey, on my last trip to Manchester - just natural window light and reflector in a small white room - lush!

My TV Debut!

Okay folks, now don't nip out to the toilet or even blink, or you might miss my first on screen performance! Last summer I worked as an Extra on set of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple for ITV, filmed near Didcot, Oxfordshire.

Sorry the clip has been removed from youtube now, but here's a screen grab...

So this was my first experience of being an extra, and it was an amazing day!
I was 'playing' Amy's cousin, and Amy supposedly killed herself by drinking poisonous red hat dye! But as Miss Marple points out at the end of the episode; apparently a redhead wouldn't want to wear a red hat, so she must have been murdered! That's why they wanted a redheaded relative as a clue. See I have a pivotal role! ;)

And it was extra super cool as Steve Pemberton, from cult comedy The League of Gentlemen, had a guest appearance on the show! I couldn't believe it when I saw him walk on set; his comedy character 'Tubbs' is a complete legend in my family, so I was stupidly ecstatic. Then I was even more amazed to learn I'd be in the scene with him. I was already nervous so this was like 'wwhaattt?!' OMG!
As the vicar he was offering his sympathies to us after the funeral, before walking over the meet Miss Marple, so I got to stand next to him all day in between takes, trying to play cool and attempting to make at least mildly interesting small-talk, but my knees were shaking the whole time, haha :)

That short scene in the graveyard took all day to shoot, maybe about 25 takes. Apparently on average per day of shooting, only about 2 minutes of footage is gained. That really makes you realise the huge amount of money and time involved in putting even just an hour long tv episode together, let alone a feature length film. I now understand how hard actors have to work, repeating the same scenes over and over, often in the wrong order, with loads of waiting around, day after day for months just for one episode! It isn't quite as glamorous as some people assume, I'd imagine it's difficult to get into character with so much interruption. Haha, listen to me thinking I know all about it! Hollywood here I come!! :p

My 1940's outfit...

Ready for my close up...

With my co-star ;) Steve Pemberton!

Peace & Pampering

I'm travelling to Ireland today, I just got off the plane in Shannon and have some time to kill whilst I catch the bus to Galway, then the rest of my time is in Dublin. I will be back late next Monday 6th, and I may not have such good internet access so if I'm delayed in replying to any emails that's why, but I will get back to you asap.

I had a relaxing day off yesterday, tidied all my clothes and accessories as they were bursting out from drawers and cupboards everywhere. I did some washing and cleaning, and finalised a few details of my trip. In the evening I watched 'Knocked Up' with my housemates, it was so good! I thought it would just be another churned out american comedy with predictable teenage humour and obvious script, but it was actually refreshingingly realistic, sweet without being sickly, with good performances, as well as being really hilarious. Definately recommend that one :)

I then had a late night pampering session in the bath (with my fave bath melt from Lush, called Floating Island, which is full of moisturising oils, it smells really good). I took off about 3 layers off skin with body scrub, slicked on a hair mask (that's basically a mega thick conditioner to you guys), manicured my feet and then smothered myself in cocoa butter and thigh firming cream, wow I felt brand new. So my skin should be extra smooth and glowing for my upcoming shoots! I sometimes wonder about doing my feet and toes though, obviously you want to have nice smooth-looking tootsies for photoshoots, but on location that can be a nightmare with babysoft barefeet on sharp cold gravel and rough rock... *Must look blissful and serene...OW!...dreamy, breathless english rose, posing effortlessly...fck%£g OW!!* haha... Ah the things you do to make a living.

This morning I finished packing, had some porridge for breakfast to keep me going, and before heading off to catch the train, tried to make my room look as neat as possible for my return.
I hate coming back to a messy room after a working trip. I didn't get time to hoover though, which bugged me, so I didn't leave with totally wholesome sense of chi :P ...I was shooting in a forrest earlier this week and collected all these leaf skeletons which I thought would be great to draw and photograph, but half of them broke up all over my carpet when I emptied my bag out.
I adore my bedroom now, when it's tidy, which it hardly ever is. I used to have loads of colourful ornaments and jewels hanging everywhere, with huge montages up crammed full of photographs and art that inspired me, but it was too busy, so I simplified everything to cream - walls, bedspread, cushions, fairylight lilies over my bed, and my contented looking wooden buddha as a symbol for peace. Just having pure neutral shades with a splash of colour seems so much better for my mind, being as my room is the only place that's mine, my base, I like to try and keep it as chilled out a little haven as possible.

My travelling all went smoothly anyway, I love flying from big airports. Once you've gone through the tension of security, the slight awkwardness as you hobble onward wriggling back into your shoes, and then; you're through! Breezing into shopping paradise of perfume and books and travel size beauty products. Naturally I make a beeline for Accessorize, trying to walk calmly but actually bursting inside with crazed sparkle induced energy, reeled in by the glistening shelves of treasure in the form of beaded hoop earrings and over-sequined beachbags, that glint flirtatiously promising to transform you into cool-cultured-and-stylish-life-loving-boho-darling, with-slightly-mysterious-and-seductive-presence. Ooooh. I fall in love with a bag but say I can get it when I'm back in England, if I'm good, but can't resist a pretty dragonfly pendant. I walk out joyfully clinging to my purchase. Yay, happiness :)

Anyway, looks like the weather will be nice in Ireland for the locations shoots I have, fingers crossed! Will hopefully have some pictures to show it next week.
