Yesterday, Today & Forever

Michael Jackson ~ 1958-2009

What an emotional 24 hours; the internet, newspapers and tv headlines read 'Michael Jackson Is Dead'. As if within a hazy dream; I keep reaching out to understand the reality but my mind just won't quite latch onto it. He's really gone. My favourite. Now glittering up there with the other late icons of history, no time to say goodbye. He's lived his life a giant superstar in our crazy world of fame... watching back over videos of his youth, who could have thought what lay before him, forever to be an enigma, his story ends here, but I'm so glad the world is finally remembering him as the mesmerising legend he was. Hearing the opening bars of Billie Jean will make my heart race in exhilerated happiness always. Thank you MJ x

The coolest, slickest performer of all time... it was one hell of a show!

Refresh

Sorry I haven't been very good with the blog lately, I've felt a bit under the weather, with a cough, eye infection, mouth ulcers, and was sick last weekend, must have been a bit run down and caught a bug. Still been well enough for shoots though, but I'm glad I've had some time off too, had been very busy.
I'm moving house soon and it fell through temporarily last week, so I had to try and sort something else, was a bit stressful, but it's all okay now and everything is signed. I'll be moving into lodgings in Haddenham, near Thame, which is 45 mins on the train from London. Just a room, and shared kitchen and bathroom, but it's much less rent, so I can save more, and I'm often travelling so just needed a cheap base. I'll miss living in Oxford, but I'll be just a bus ride away to visit, it was lovely living there the last 5 years, such a pretty place, but I like change and fresh starts; looking forward to packing up my life into boxes and reorganising it all. I'll have a bit more space in my new room and I'm going to have a table just for my art stuff so I can get back into painting and crafty things etc.
I'm also looking forward to starting a new gym regime with my boyfriend as we'll be living very close by, so can motivate each other to go regularly. I plan to get super toned over the next few months for some shoots I have in late Aug/Sept. I've never been mega skinny but I'm interested to see how my body reacts to a stricter exercise routine, will still keep my curves though, I just want to feel lighter and fitter overall. I've been on a healthier diet the last 4 weeks, eating loads of fruit, veg, fish, nuts, salads, less carbs, less fatty meat. It's more expensive but very worth it, you shouldn't deny your body nutrition, I'd rather be healthy, and save on something else. It is very hard to eat well though with all the travelling and odd hours. I still have a bit of chocolate though, can't take that away from me, but I was eating way too much snacking on it before, so easy to get addicted to having regular sugar. I can understand now when ex-smokers say they'll always long for a cigarette... I do get a bit twitchy in front of the sweet section at the newsagents!! *Step away from the Crunchie!*

Here's some pictures from a shoot a while ago with the wonderfully eccentric and fabulously talented Gregory Miles Brown :) He has the most intriging array of strange props that I've ever seen, and so many beautiful instruments, and is an utter joy to work with thanks to his endless imagination, quirky ideas and fantastic enthusiasm. Beautiful lighting skills also...

Phew

So I'm enjoying having a few days off after some busy weeks... My studio days at Rowe Photographic in Rotherham and Arc34 in Preston last weekend went really well and many thanks to everyone who booked time over the week I was in that area.

Really love this image by Emma at EGo Photography. And congrats to her as she got a seperate image published in Digital Camera in the July issue - opposite a picture of me by Alan Farina. Check us out! :)

Also big thanks to Paul, the studio owner at Rowe Studio, who organised everything for me and was so considerate, making sure I was comfortable and cool in the sweltering heatwave we had! Top guy and I look forward to going back for another few days in the near future.

I also did some cool fashion shots with Adrian Crook at Arc Studios (MM page here)... scraped my hair back for a sleeker look, loving the harsh light, very different from what I'm usually used to doing, really enjoyed the change and love the images, many thanks Ade!
