Porcelain Queen

I'm finding it really hard to decide which of these amazing images I like most, they are by London based photographer Alex Lewis. Fantastic make-up by Sophie Medhurst, which made the most of my pale skin, fair features and red hair. This was so fun to shoot, with the queen like vibe and awesome soft & opulent styling... a mixture of corsets, flowing skirts, sparkling jewellery and soft creamy feathers - what luxury. I ♥ my job!

  2. Holly, They are ALL fantastic of course... My favorite however would be the second image, I just prefer the framing, and it shows you face so beautifully...

  3. They are all beautiful!

But if I was to pick one that shows the best of your features and the talent of the other artists involved.... hmmmmm... this is difficult.....hmmmmm.... number 2 is my fav.

    Great job Holly!!

  4. They are all captivating images, but I am particularly drawn to the fourth.

  5. 4, 3, 6 get my vote. Beautiful as always.

  6. Haha, the "Red" Swan. The slightly rebellious of the three sisters, secretly sensual and less interested in drama, out there in the misty forest just before dawn, looking for plesure, looking for ways to grow above her enchantment...

  7. number 3 gets my vote

  8. I am reading a book where the photographer talks about the process of exploring a subject relieves him from creating the best Picture possible.

These photos show me different things and the collection is the best in my mind.

  9. All lovely, but, being hypercritical, 1st one, your arm is cut off, and is very straight.
2nd left arm again is very straight to the edge of the frame, maybe bring your elbow back a little, and is as bright as your face, could be toned down 1/2 a stop. 3rd :-) 4th, right arm is bright, and there is a lump (technical term) of hair on your arm. 5, straight arm coming from nowhere with bracelets. 6 i like, 7 ok, not sure about the elbows 8, not sure about that arm again, just needs to be at an angle.
As I say hyper critical, just wish I could have taken them.

  10. Oh wow. These are the sort of images that I look at and think I wish I took these. I couldn't choose a favourite but I find that 3 and 5 don't stand out as much. I do love the softer make up in the first 2 as it really shows you off rather than the make up artists skill. Fantastic.

  11. I think they are all great, but for me, number 3 stands out a mile. I think the pose is BEAUTIFUL and it shows the complete figure. Full of grace. Your hands are lovely. The tension in your hip and the way you are up on your toes is fab. Great shot.

  12. All lovely, but I like the third one, too. I saw 'Black Swan' recently, which I thought was an incredible film, and that one reminded me of the imagery. I think someone else also spotted that comparison. (And if you haven't seen the film yet, you must).

  13. Thanks so much for your feedback everyone!! I think number 4 is my fave.

And thanks for your in depth critique Michael, I just like them all and wanted to share to see which were most popular. I know some of them do break the 'rules' of cropping but I don't think I see the imperfections as much as you, the bit of hair certainly doesn't bother me, I think it looks fine as it is, and I like the punch the shots have with the pale skin being bright - much better than images that have weak contrast and no pow factor! In most of them my arms are only a fraction brigter, if at all, than my face, but maybe our screens are different. I'm pretty sure I did some poses that were close up headshots with my hand down, but Alex didnt send me any, I will maybe ask if he edited any like that...

Yes Ros I saw black swan and loved it!! I didnt really make the connection but see where people are coming from. Hope you are feeling better!! xxx

  14. They are all lovely, but if I must choose, I vote for #4. Very elegant.

  15. Holly, they are all lovely, with the 1st and last shots, maybe if you had your hand on your other cheek so your arm was going across the frame, like I say im just a hypercritical virgo! Keep up the excellent work!

  16. I too am a 'virgo' starsign (I dont know if that means anything...especially not a passport to being picky!) I was a photographer on that day... we took so many photographs Holly did a superb job, shot after shot, she really inspires the photographer. Sometimes so much we had to hold her back! But that's wonderful, to have a model that's so commited and passionate about what they do. I have booked Holly on so many shoots and never get the same shot twice. All are gorgeous and perfectly showcase Holly's versatality as a model and Alex's superb photography. - Francesca
