Porcelain Queen

I'm finding it really hard to decide which of these amazing images I like most, they are by London based photographer Alex Lewis. Fantastic make-up by Sophie Medhurst, which made the most of my pale skin, fair features and red hair. This was so fun to shoot, with the queen like vibe and awesome soft & opulent styling... a mixture of corsets, flowing skirts, sparkling jewellery and soft creamy feathers - what luxury. I ♥ my job!

Chocolat

Some more gorgeous images from the luxury corset designer Sparklewren- check out her work on her website and sale items on her Etsy site! The yummy photography is by Sean Elliot, I love how he captured the magnificant golds and bronzes around the silky smooth textures and shine of the fabrics. I ended up buying the powder blue underbust corset as I loved it so much, and Madame Bink is now the owner of the full cream lace corset, which I'm sure looks awesomly stunning on her hourglass figure - so she is the lady to go to for gorgeous bridal boudoir!

They remind me of the beautiful Audrey Tautou advert for Chanel...

Searching

I love the possible narratives of this portrait, taken by John Wood, a photographer I've been working with on ideas for his projects including portraying varying emotions for the camera. I wore the French blue organza skirt to add a flash of colour in the cool windowlight and think the fine lace against my hair and skin adds to the picture's delicate feeling.

With Love

I'm a bit of a greetings card hoarder, and I'm putting up some of my recent findings, purely just to show them off on the blog for my own enjoyment as I think they look so nice, I know not everyone will be interested but I'm pretty sure some of you will like them. I'm very prone to buying things for their sparkle, beautiful packaging and colour, and greetings cards are definately one of my big loves. Some girls are addicted to buying shoes... my thing is postcards and notebooks! I have a box of about 50 cards that I keep for sending to my family and friends. It's great to find ones that you know will be perfect for a certain someone, especially my mum who is always so thoughtful with the notes and packages she sends to me. Some I can't part with, or I buy two of the same card, and now I have started scanning my collection :-P

These two are by textile artist Amanda Ross, who has a beautiful range of cards, notebooks & prints of her work available in certain art and book shops, I'm getting one framed for my bedroom soon!

I love the quirky little owl, so adorable!

Beautiful illustration, brilliant photography, vivid colour, embossed detailing, on wonderful thick textured card. Totally lush. I could spend hours in stores that sell this stuff. Yup I am an art shop nerd. The best places to find them are quaint, boutique style treasure troves with rows upon rows of gorgeous pictures, books, boxes, wrapping paper, ribbon, intricate gifts - that when I walk in I literally have to calm myself to make sure I go around the whole shop without missing anything in my excitement at all the precious things, and refrain from making a little squeeling noise (unless I'm with Bink and then we do an open mutual squeel, as I know she shares my craftsy passion).
I used to work at a wonderful little shop in Oxford called Arcadia (which is where some of these are from) and still visit every now and again; it's a complete Alladin's cave crammed with every glistening and artistic wonder you could possibly imagine from wonderful beaded feather birds and antique frames to shimmering diaries and art nouveau prints. The shop was on a sidestreet and I remember asking one of the owners if he'd thought of putting an advertising board at the end of the main street so more people knew it was there, but he said he liked to keep it as a 'hidden gem' that people could stumble across. How fantastic that he regards his customers feeling of special mystery as more important than pure financial gain. And it works for him because he has such lovely friendships and exchanges with people who go in there, who like me probably like to think of it as their shop! :-)

I have so much blogging to catch up on - loads of beautiful pictures to post up over the next week, so keep coming back to see what's new ;-)

Crimson Dance

These are a few shots from a full day shoot with the wonderful Carl Grim at the funky White Space Studios in Chesham. We got so many beautiful pictures from the day but for now I'll show this set, featuring me having a little prance around with some great shimmering fabric in the gorgeous lighting.

Winter Beauty

It was such a gorgeous frosty morning today, the mist over the fields looked stunning as I drove to my shoot in High Wycombe, and the sunshine brightened up the day so much. The wintertime after Christmas often seems so dreary so it is nice to see it being at pretty as the pre-Christmas autumn days... which is when these beautiful shots were taken, with the lovely Karen Jones (who I am working with again tomorrow!) I did my hair & make-up and we used a mix of both our outfits and accessories to style the looks. The 4th shot down is my favourite cuz I love the crystalised frosty grass with my pale delicate outfit. The breeze was chilly indeed but the furry coat kept me nice and warm :-)

I've got a pretty busy week this week, I had a tutorial and studio day at LightSpot Studio in Hackney on Sunday, then back in London on Monday working at Adrian Pini's Brent Cross studio (which I discovered is only an hour away from me in the car, awesome). Today's shoot saw the time experimenting with interesting light effects, tomorrow I'm at Chesham's WhiteSpaceStudios planning to do lots of swirling around in my new isis wings, then off to my massage course in the evening, then Thursday I'm making my way to the north of England for shoots Fri-Mon around Sheffield and Manchester, including 2 full days at Hallam Mill which I am really excited about as it looks like it has superb natural light and wonderful textures to work with. I'm also in the middle of putting together trips to Hull, York & Whitby (mid March) and to Holland (late March). Hoping I can keep up with all my emails as well as getting time to eat, sleep, shower and if I'm lucky possibly have some chill time! :-) But glad to be busy as I think it makes you appreciate your free time even more, and I'm happy to be able to save up money towards seeing some more of this beautiful planet this year.

I was putting some of my favourites quotes in frames around my house recently, phrases and words that motivate me to get the most out of my time and my life, and remind me of what is important to me. I find some quotes have great meaning but can be overused and lose their impact, some have more power at different stages in your life, and some are poignant forever. This is one I've got at my desk that always gives me a kick up the bum and an extra rush of blood to the heart...

The Sweet Sickness

Here are some funky results from a great shoot I had with London based Willie Nash. I've been a fan of his work for a few years now, it's gorgeously surrealist, dark and intriguing - check out his website - www.willienashphoto.com. He builds awesome sets in his studio for each shoot, using weird props and backdrops, lots of symbolism, it's up to you how you choose to interpret it all :-)

The oddness and stark nudity in first shot reminds me of something from Bosch's painting The Garden of Earthly Delights. In the second I'm sprawled out awkward, hanging in the poisoned agony of death.

I love the sickly feel of all of them - sickly but beautiful. The portraits below are my favourite, gorgeous hair & make-up by Keelie Velvet Primrose. I adore the colours and the lighting, don't think I could have wished for a more perfect beauty shot. For some reason it reminded me of a character first referenced in Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet - 'Queen Mab' ; a tiny fairy who creeps into men's minds at night to induce dreams and sometimes brings the plague.

'Her wagon-spokes made of long spinners’ legs,
The cover of the wings of grasshoppers,
The traces of the smallest spider's web,
The collars of the moonshine's wat'ry beams...

...And in this state she gallops night by night
Through lovers’ brains, and then they dream of love'

I'm not sure yet which I should use in my portfolio, any opinions will be much appreciated so let me know what you think ;-)
